LUDHIANA: Ludhiana Round Table-188 oraganised the Run for Education marathon on Sunday to push the cause of education for underprivileged children. People from all age groups participated in the marathon, which was held on the 6.5 km track at Oreo Waterfront, South City. There turnout included around 2,000 people.
A separate children’s carnival area lent an air of festivity to the event.
A massive stage and LED screen was also set up. Good music pumped up the adrenaline as participants ran for the cause. A free eye check-up camp was also organized by a city-based eye care centre. Lead runners were awarded prizes and every participant was given a congratulatory certificate.
Divyank Aggarwal, one of the participants said, "I was quite excited about the event. It was a novel experience, more so because it was associated with a cause."
Priya Aggarwal, another participant said, "I knew I had the stamina to run 6 km. I really had a good time . It was a well-spent Sunday." Last year, Ludhiana round table built three new classrooms for Government Middle School, Giaspura. School principal Sadakar Singh Sarabha, who was present at the event with a group of school children. Chairman LRT-188 Dr Jitesh Jain said proceeds of the event would be used to build classrooms in government schools of Punjab.
